Nick Calderon

About Nick

I have spent my career in fresh produce, working the seam between the front office and the operation. My background is agricultural finance, and most of my twenty-plus years since have been inside produce and food companies and the technology that runs them: process improvement, product management, and strategic work across ERP, business intelligence, and supply chain systems.

That path left me with an unusual combination. I can sit with a CFO and talk grower settlements and trial balances. I can walk a packing line and see where the process actually breaks. And I can personally build the data systems that connect the two, so the strategy we agree on actually sticks. Most advisors offer one of those three. My practice is built on the fluency between them.

Fresh Strategies is built to stay lean. When you engage me, you work directly with me: the same person in the board conversation, the process mapping session, and the database. Behind me is a team of people I bring in for specific tasks, so projects move at the speed of a firm without the overhead of one. What you will not get is a handoff to a junior team. I stay the single point of accountability from the first conversation to the finished system, and I am fractional by design so that mid-sized operators can afford senior judgment without carrying a full-time executive salary.

Off the clock

Away from work I am a woodworker and general maker, and a volunteer with Scouting. Building things with my hands, and helping young people learn to, keeps me honest about the difference between a plan on paper and a thing that works.
